Disk System (Family Computer Disk System)

Disk System (Family Computer Disk System)

Sale date February 21, 1986

Platform FAMICOM(NES)

Manufacturer  NINTENDO

"Disk System" is the peripheral device "Nintendo" sold in 1982.
The price was 15000jpy at the time.

The disk which was made based on the "QD" standard which is an inexpensive edition of a floppy disk is being used.
This disk had the about 3 times of capacity of the ROM cassette in those days.
Moreover preservation of play data also became possible.

(Something by which degree of difficulty of memorization and description is a very high password system occupied it then.)

The price of the game software also connected cheaply, and inexpensiveness of the price of the media was set as the price the user tends to buy.

A rom cassette of about 5000 yen
A disk card of about 2600 yen

The biggest feature of the disk is "rewriting" of a game.

It was very low-price by the "disk lighter" installed in a mass sales store, and it was possible to play other games.

The height of this machine, about 170 cm (5.8feet)

The charge for "rewriting" was 500 yen for once.

"Sharp" vanity was also sold to "Twin FAMICOM" where "Disk System" united with "FAMICOM".

This "Disk System" produces a lot of masterpieces.

The expansion port where it could come in sight was equipped with building of a network, but there were no big achievements.
Superior performance of a game was expected in various faces, but that didn't also continue lengthily.

A large-volume ROM cartridge also appears already in 1986 about the capacity of the game.

"Ganbare Goemon!"

ROM equipped with the save function of the battery back up system also appears in 1987.

"MORITA Shougi"
There is also such matter and "Disk System" begins to decline.
Supply of a game for "Disk System" has ended in 1992.

It's also this "Disk System" that a famous story game now also follows was born.

"Pursuit race" was also seen at the time of a start of a system.
