"DRAGON QUEST" is a first RPG by a home video game machine.
It's also the first step which pioneers the genre called an unfamiliar RPG then.

A story starts from "castle of RADATOMU".
A player will be the main character who is brave man's "ROTO" descendant, and does for knocking down "Ryu-Ou".



The monster it blocks is knocked down and the level is raised.









He challenge the underground maze to save the princess dredged by "Ryu - Ou".

The underground labyrinth is utterly dark.

Magic of the light or a torch is needed.
The monster is also strong compared with the ground.
Time passes, and the light becomes weak.














 "Ryu - Ou" is further down.

 A evil castle was in the marsh of a poison.

It's a castle in a start spot to seem in an opposite shore.

 The story of a game is same as a previous work.

"HYDLIDE SPECIAL" was sold in 1986 as one of "THE LEGEND OF HYDLIDE Series".
A PC version was sold in 1984.
The software kept appearing on hit charts of a pc game during 2 years.

It's also the work which laid the groundwork for "RPG" in Japan.


Story
"Devil BARALIS" which appeared in "fairyland"

The kingdom is rotted by the magic of "BARALIS".

A princess in a kingdom could change the form to a fairy by the power of the curse, too.

 
A brave youth "gym" goes out to travel of an adventure to take back peace.

A game is an action RPG of a screen change system.
A main character aims at a castle of "BARALIS" while solving a mystery and collecting items.



 There aren't a lot of volumes because it's a game software in an early stage and also has a small capacity.

But the degree of difficulty of solution of the riddle is high.

It's because a hint isn't obtained at all.
There are no conversations of the main character like a general RPG, and a hint isn't obtained.

A cross is needed to fight against a vampire.
It isn't informed a player of even that a cross exists.
